Toshiyuki Muranaka

Composer / Cellist
・Graduate of the Department of Instrumental Music, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in Cello.
・Studied abroad at the Licinio Refice Conservatory in Italy.

Studied composition under Kiyohiko Sano and Naohide Ebihara.
Studied Cello under Chizuko Sato, Tsurukichi Saito, Koji Yanagida, Fumiaki Kono, Nobuko Yamazaki, Claudio Marini, Maria Kliegel, Michela Campagnaro, and Gizi Marcella.

His music transcends East and West, blending jazz, rock, and classical influences, and is characterized by memorable melodies that listeners can’t help but hum.
His creative work spans theater, games, anime, and musicals. He has composed and served as music director for the TV anime MARS RED, stage productions such as READING HIGH and VOICARION, and the Toho musical CROSS ROAD. He continues to provide music for Sony Music Entertainment, Production I.G, and Toho.

As a performer, he has collaborated with Grammy Award-winning artist Pablo Ziegler, and as a string player has recorded and performed with leading Japanese artists including Arashi, EXILE, X JAPAN, aiko, Ryuichi Kawamura, and Gen Hoshino.
Both as a composer and as a performer, he is regarded as one of the most exciting artists of his generation.
